Feedback

Hey Ed,

The article ‘Football: Girls give it a go’ (Jan 4) surprised me. In my opinion, football is a men’s sport and not suitable for the fairer sex since it’s a hard game that can cause injuries. So, learning about this tournament in Thar was an eye-opener. I read online about women football and found out that the sport has been gaining popularity for some time, and girls in Liyari are actually wonderful players. My apologies for being biased, and I hope these young girls achieve great success and make us all proud.

The game review ‘Hitman 2’ by Altamash Khan (Attish) was comprehensive and informative.

And “Winter blowout: confessions of a photographer” was really good. Good going, Us!

Hi Ed,

I love entertainment news and follow the interviews of stars that you publish. Please make celeb news a regular feature of our mag. Kudos to Sameen Amer for the way she squeezes so much in such little space. Needless to say that “The Green Room” is my favourite section in Us.

Hi Editor,

I always thought courses on leadership were good for nothing and just a gimmick for making money because they are very expensive. That was before I read “Choosing the way forward” by Buraq Shabir in this week’s (Jan 4) Us. It seems TTYT 2018 was indeed helpful and the participants took a lot with them at the completion of the course. I just hope that SoL would make it more affordable for those who are not rolling in dough.

Ed, I must commend our young poets! The standard of poems is amazing and the imagination and creativity impresses me every time I read “Poets’ Corner”. I also like “Comic Relief” and the “My teenage years” that you run so stingily. Keep up the good work!

Unavailability of hostels

Hi Ed,

For a long time students of Atta Shad Degree College (ASDC) have been facing residential problems. Due to unavailability of hostels, students were forced to rent quarters; as a result, they face numerous financial and logistic problems. As a result, many students are unable to pursue further education after doing matriculation.

Though students are being provided quality education, unfortunately college hostels have been closed since 2014. Students from different areas of the district have to live elsewhere, and the cost of living forces them to quit college.

The new government is requested to take concrete initiatives and come up with a workable plan to reopen college hostels so that the doors of opportunities for the students should be opened.

Reflection

Narrated by ‘Ali bin Abi Talib (R.A)

Fatima (R.A) came to the Prophet (S.A.W) asking for a servant. He said, “May I inform you of something better than that? When you go to bed, recite “Subhan Allah’ thirty three times, ‘Alhamdulillah’ thirty three times, and ‘Allahu Akbar’ thirty four times. Ali added, ‘I have never failed to recite it ever since.” Somebody asked, “Even on the night of the battle of Siffin?” He said, “No, even on the night of the battle of Siffin.”
