WAR AND PEACE
The events of the last few weeks that left India and Pakistan on the brink of war have proven, once and for all, that we, as a nation, are the ones who have always wanted peace. Despite the Indian army’s attacks on innocent civilians of our country, we first remained patient and then targeted their military. The Indian government has claimed that they attacked terrorist sites in Pakistan, but, in reality, they targeted our civilians, including children. Were those innocent civilians terrorists? No, absolutely not. It was just the Indian government’s propaganda against Pakistan. Instead, they helped show the world that the Pakistan Air Force is the king of the skies, and we have the most sturdy army in the world.
I salute the brave soldiers who fought for the safety and dignity of our nation. I am proud of Pakistani people and the political parties for forgetting all their disputes and gathering on one platform for the sovereignty of this mighty nation.
On 22 April 2025, 26 people – mainly Hindu tourists – were killed in a terrorist attack near Pahalgam in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian government accused Pakistan of this attack. Pakistan denied the allegations from the start and demanded an impartial investigation of the attack. Instead of finding a solution to this problem on the diplomatic front, India showed inharmonious behaviour. On 30 April, in response to the threats and rising tensions in the region, the DG ISPR, along with the foreign minister, addressed a conference and said the historic words, “You choose where war starts, we’ll decide where it ends.”
On 7 May, India launched an attack on various cities of Pakistan which resulted in the deaths of 30 people – all innocent civilians. In retaliation, Pakistan downed five Indian fighter jets, including the Rafale fighter aircrafts which has been developed by a French company. India then launched more than 77 drones in Pakistan which were successfully intercepted and jammed. On 10 May, India launched missiles on three airbases in Pakistan, but all our assets remained safe by the grace of Allah. In response to the Indian attack, Pakistan retaliated, and the world witnessed that we never start a war but we know how to finish it.
Pakistan launched operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos – a name derived from a verse in the Quran (Surah As-Saff 61:4) which praises those who fight in Allah’s cause as a solid, fortified structure – on 10 May to show national unity and dignity and to give an appropriate response to the enemy.
According to the security sources, Pakistan destroyed various airbases in India. Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder hypersonic missiles destroyed India’s S-400 system in Adampur and a key Indian military intelligence and training centre in Rajouri, which was responsible for terrorism in Pakistan.
Pakistan never wanted a war, but once it started, we had to retaliate in our defence. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had already clarified that Pakistan would only hit military targets in India.
On 10 May, at 4:30pm PKT, a ceasefire was achieved between the two nations. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the news on social media, saying, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.”
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, China, Iran, and U.A.E. played significant roles for regional peace and in solving the conflicts between Pakistan and India. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation a few hours after the ceasefire and said “We dealt with the enemy in a way that upholds the dignity of our nation. Our brave and valiant forces delivered a resounding response, bringing the enemy to its knees.”
War was, is, and will never be a solution to regional disputes. Conflicts should be solved with dialogues and on the diplomatic front. War only brings casualties, fear, and never-ending loss among nations. War should never be an option.
I hope India will choose dialogues over war in the future. May Allah grant peace and patience to the families of the shuhada who lost their lives in the recent attacks. I am once again thankful to the Pakistan Army, our journalists, and our doctors who stood firm and united at this difficult time. Pakistan Zindabad!
