Us: What does success mean to you?

The dazzling Mahnoor Malik

Mahnoor Malik: Success is like having all the freedom to express myself without a script. If I can inspire people, I’d say I'm a winner.

Us: What is something you learned early in your career?

MM: I learned that all the acting classes in the world won’t matter if you're not bringing your true self into your work. Authenticity is key!

Us: Did you learn the art of acting?

MM: I didn’t go the traditional route. I learned the craft by just diving headfirst into auditions and sets. It’s like learning to swim with sharks, but also kinda fun. For anyone wanting to break into acting, I’d say get into theatre, watch every movie on Netflix and break down the performances, and take every workshop you can find.

Us: What is the most challenging thing about this career?

MM: Oh boy, where do I start? It's a rollercoaster. The unpredictability can be tough. Keeping that confidence up while navigating the ups and downs is a full-time gig.

Us: Who are some of your role models, and what do you like about their work?

MM: We learn from the seniors, and they are our role models.

Us: From all your roles so far, which role was the most meaningful to you, and why?

MM: Definitely my role in Sultanat – where I was the youngest amongst three sisters – was very challenging. It wasn’t just about acting; it was about raising awareness. It made me realize I could use my platform for something bigger than just selfies and red carpets.

Us: Do you believe good looks and connections bring stardom?

The dazzling Mahnoor Malik

MM: It can open some doors, but talent and hard work are the real MVPs. There are plenty of gorgeous folks out there who can’t act their way out of a paper bag. So, bring the talent, the hustle, and a sprinkle of charisma, and you’ll shine like the star you are.

Us: How has social media changed things for you?

MM: Social media is chaotic but so much fun. It gives me a direct line to connect with fans and share behind-the-scenes shenanigans. On the flip side, I’ve got to remember that trolls exist, but thanks to my good old block button, they can stay in their corner.

Us: How do you deal with self-doubt?

MM: I usually swat it away with a good playlist and a chat with my close ones. Seriously, surrounding myself with supportive friends and reminding myself of my accomplishments helps a great deal.

Us: Please share three pieces of advice for aspiring actors.

MM: Stay true to yourself as originality is your superpower. Practice like you mean it, and don’t take rejection personally. It’s not you; it’s the role.
