Dream girl

By Amelia Afraz

Hey you! Were you the one that night

Playing hide and seek in the moonlight

Mischievously throwing off your veil

Captivating the moon under your spell

To come and steal the luster from your face

I stood there, stunned by your effulgence

Your beaming smile in dark, pure brilliance

Lighting up the darkest of rooms

Compelling me to swirl and swoon

On the dance floor of your heart

Those innocent, twinkling eyes

Illuminating my world like stars

Your charisma, bewitching my sight

Enchanting my soul with your light

I stood amazed, hypnotized by your gaze

You! Unaware of my ecstatic state

Swaggered around with your dazzling gait

How I wish, you were a mere lamp

In my abode, I would then clamp

Alas! You were just my dream girl!

Van Gogh

By Amna Ameer

Still remains

A testament

To immortal

Existence

Of a life

That was morbidly

Tinged with pain

Yet survived

In spite

Of the struggle

Of one’s own mind

Finding ways to breathe

Again through art

Using the yellow

Of sunflowers

And the waxing and waning

Waves of a starry night

Living in the hues

Where most souls

Don’t lurk

For they have something to lose

Yet only those who

Dare to experience

Something other than

The norm

Know the secret

Of pain and loss

Nothing in this life

Comes with a promise

Of everlasting twilight

Except darkness

Followed by the morning sky

Imaginary world

By Zeba Aziz

I have a world

Imaginary

A storybook

Of my own

There, I rule

Like a queen

The first thing

I conquered

Was you

Be it spring

Or fall

There

I have you all

Each breath

You inhale

Blossoms

My soul

Everything

In here

Is blissful

The words

You utter

The things

You do

The love

You show

For I am

The author

Of the fantasies

I own
