Cricket woes - changes in team

Dear Ed,

Mohsin Naqvi has been named the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). There is a possibility that Babar Azam – who was removed from captaincy from all formats of cricket by PCB’s temporary head Zaka Ashraf – would become the captain of the team again.

After the poor performance of the team in the 2023 ODI World Cup, the complete management was changed. Shan Masood was named the test captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi was named the T20 captain, but the ODI captain has not been announced. After Babar Azam was sacked from captaincy, the team has failed to win matches. They have just won one match out of eight, which is quite disappointing.

Babar Azam is one of the most successful captains of the team and it is hoped Mr. Naqvi will take quality decisions for the betterment of the team since the next Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan and PCB needs to persuade the Indian cricket team to come and play in their respective country.

Feedback

Dear Ed,

I am an old reader. Us has been a companion since I was 14, and I wish it well. I would like to praise the last few issues of Us. The issue of 9 February was great. The cover story Pak sarzameen was a very interesting read. It was heartening to know that our youth are very aware of what’s happening in the country and are cautiously optimistic about its future. It was good to see Tahreem Asghar’s poem, ‘Emerald green’, after a long time in the issue of 16 February; it was a great poem, melancholic and musical. In the same issue, the segment Bits ‘n’ pieces had some very useful information on aloe vera. Aloe vera is very common in our country and its regular use can benefit us immensely. Keep up the good work!
