BITS ‘N’ PIECES

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A.)

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Allah said, ‘I will be an opponent to three types of people on the Day of Resurrection:

1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but proves treacherous;

2. One who sells a free person and eats his price; and

3. One who employs a labourer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his labour. ‘“

Aloe vera has several health benefits

By Memoona Mukhtar

Reflection

Aloe vera is a common plant in our country and can be found easily. Its gel contains many active ingredients, like lignin (which is a structural component of cellulose), saponins (which have antiseptic properties), polysaccharides, essential amino acids, minerals, vitamins (A, C, and E), and various enzymes. Nowadays, shampoos, soaps, skin care creams, and sunblocks contain aloe vera because of its magical effects on skin and hair.

Most people, especially women, have to face the problem of dryness, particularly in winters, so skin specialists recommend the use of aloe vera gel because it’s natural and has hydrating and moisturizing properties (although it may cause an allergic reaction in some people).

Aloe vera has the following benefits:

Rich in vitamins

Aloe vera gel contains vitamins, including vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. These vitamins are antioxidants and they play a vital role in keeping the skin healthy and moisturized.

Antimicrobial properties

Since aloe vera has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, you can also use it as a sanitizer when you are traveling, at work, or at school. In the past, it was also used to heal wounds, like cuts and burns, because it can speed up the healing process.

Helps treat acne and other skin problems

Skin is the largest organ of the body so it needs more care. Acne is the most common problem of children reaching the age of puberty. Aloe vera contains vitamin C, which, according to research, contains collagen, an important protein found in the skin and connective tissue. If applied to the skin, it makes the skin firm and spotless and also helps treat acne. If used as a sunblock it also prevents skin burns.

Hydrating and anti-aging properties

The aloe vera plant has the potential to absorb large amounts of water, and that’s why this plant can bear harsh weather conditions. Its leaves contain water, making them a perfect moisturizer for your skin.

Moreover, it contains antioxidants which fight against free radical that cause wrinkles, and its collagen and vitamin A content helps prevent wrinkles and makes the skin younger.

Relieves itching

Researchers have proven that aloe vera helps prevent itching due to allergies and insect bites.

Helps cure gum disease

Aloe vera also helps cure gum diseases and inflammation like mucositis.

Helps relieve joint pain

Besides its many other benefits, it also helps to relieve joint and muscle pain if applied externally.
