Feedback

Dear Editor,

I have been reading Us magazine for about two years now. My favourite sections are Poets’ Corner and Comic Relief. I have a suggestion: use comics made by Pakistanis so our culture and current situation are portrayed in a light way. I like the comics that are published, but sometimes they are difficult to read.

Hey Ed,

I love The Eid Engagement and Other Weddings by Iqra Asad and enjoyed its 42nd installment (6 Jan). I am happy that the wedding is finally over and the young people can now get on with their new life. I hope that Iqra focusses on the trials that newly-weds have to endure. I want to praise Iqra for continuing to write a real-life story. Ed, also convey my appreciation to all the poets who make my Fridays with their wonderful poems!

Dear Editor,

I usually like Iqra Asad’s stories, but The Eid Engagement and Other Weddings has become a bit monotonous and needs some fireworks to bring it to life. Now only Amani is left unwed and I am dreading her mehendi, wedding and valima. I am sure Iqra will surprise me!

Hi Eddy,

In The Green Room section, album review has been missing, and I miss it. I think there should be two pages for entertainment, and in addition to movies and music, TV shows should also be given space. I read a letter in one of the previous issues requesting you to feature TV shows, and I second it. I think I would like to read about the dramas my parents talk about so much.

Dear Ed,

Another lap completed around the sun by Nabeel Naqvi was very good (30 Dec 2022)! I have been reading Us since I was 16. I really used to enjoy the articles by Nabeel, and I think he is the best Us writer.

Reflection

Narrated Anas bin Malik (R.A):

The Apostle of Allah (S.A.W) fell down from a horse and his right side was grazed. We went to him to inquire after his health when the time of prayer came. He led us in prayer in a sitting posture and we said prayer behind him sitting, and when he finished the prayer he said: The imam is appointed only to be followed; so when he recites takbir, you should also recite that; when he prostrates, you should also prostrate; when he rises up, you should also rise up, and when he said, ‘God listens to him who praises Him,’ you should say: ‘Our Lord, to Thee be the praise,’ and when he prays sitting, all of you should pray sitting.
