PIPFA’s 12th Graduation Convocation

Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) is an autonomous body established under license from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan by the authority given under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984. PIPFA was constituted in the year 1993 jointly by three sponsoring bodies of Pakistan namely The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) and the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP).

Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) held its 12th Graduation Convocation ceremony recently for its graduates and certificate of merit holders at Al Razi Hall, University of the Punjab, Lahore. More than 70 students were awarded their certificates. Mr. Syed Ammar Naqvi, Accountant General Punjab, was the Chief Guest of the prestigious event while Mr. Zia-ul-Mustafa, Chairman Strategic Board and Council Member of Institute of Cost and Management Accountant Pakistan and Mr. Muhammad Yasin, President PIPFA graced the event as Guests of Honour. Besides, a good number of dignitaries of the profession from PIPFA, ICAP, ICMAP, ICAEW, ACCA, faculty members and participants from public and private sector also attended the event.

The event started with the name of Almighty Allah. Mr. Farhan Dilawar, convener PIPFA Lahore Branch Committee, welcomed the guests and presented a detailed overview of PIPFA to the attendees. Addressing the graduates, Chief Guest Mr. Syed Ammar Naqvi advised the new graduates to focus on tools of analytics. He added that the upcoming era will be led by artificial intelligence and analytical skills, hence tools of research and analytical skills are of key importance. He appreciated the work done by PIPFA to equip its students with latest updated knowledge in the field of audit and accountancy.

Guest of Honour Mr. Zia-ul-Mustafa also appreciated the efforts of PIPFA in producing competent accountants in public and private sectors and congratulated the students and urged them to work harder and lead the profession from the front. To this end, he advised the students to continue with further professional studies and serve the nation by avoiding brain drain. The Guest of Honor asserted the need of professional development of human resource in accounts, finance and auditing.

Addressing the participants, President PIPFA congratulated the students and shared the progress of PIPFA in public and private sector organizations. He also highlighted the vacuum of professionals in these disciplines in Pakistan. He stressed upon character building.

Convener Lahore Branch Committee Mr. Farhan Dilawar urged the students to set their goals in life and then work hard with focused mindset. He emphasized the need to remain focused to realize their dreams. Giving an overview of PIPFA, Mr. Farhan Dilawar told the participants that PIPFA is a mutual initiative of Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) that has been serving the nation in the fields of audit, public finance and accountancy since 1993. He informed the gathering that the institute has produced around 8500 qualified public finance accountants who are serving the nation on key positions in public and private sectors. He stated that today’s youth has various choices about their fields of interest and can interact with field specialists, so students should utilize their opportunities appropriately to take vital decisions of their life.

Fellow member of ICAP and PIPFA Mr. Shaukat Hussain Chaudry presented the Vote of Thanks to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, President PIPFA, Lahore Branch Committee and all guests from Govt. Departments, ICAP, ICMAP, organizing team of the convocation and the other participants.

At the end of convocation shields and certificates were distributed amongst the PIPFA graduates and guests. Chief Guest and Guests of Honour congratulated the management of PIPFA for organizing the convocation.
