Amidst all the controversies/criticism surrounding Aurat March 2020, scriptwriter Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar (KRQ) is attracting a lot of toxic reaction for his indecent remarks to a fellow female panelist on national television.

Following this, Geo Entertainment, that recently signed a contract with the playwright for four drama serials and one film, suspended the deal.

A statement issued by the channel read: “Geo Network believes in the exchange of ideas and in promoting the culture of ‘Live and let Live – Geo Aur Jeenay Do’. We believe that everyone has the right to express their opinions and the culture of healthy debate should be encouraged. But such debate should be done with the norms of decency and respecting each other. Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar sb not only used abusive language against a woman but also refused to accept his mistake and apologize for it.”

While the statement mentioned that the suspension will last until KRQ apologizes, he doesn’t seem to have any regret about what he did. In response, the writer stated, “Geo Entertainment has demanded apology from me to satisfy the ulterior motives of a few foreign funded feminists and justify their ugly and shameless slogans.”

He added, “I am so fortunate to have an opportunity to sacrifice for my noble cause and submit myself to the will of Allah. I, therefore, immediately announce cancellation of this contract with Geo and assure to my people that I will not work with this institution for my life to come.”

Kudos to Geo and producers Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi at 7th Sky Entertainment for standing on the right side of things even at a great commercial cost.
