Nominated for ‘Best Actor’ trophy for Pinky Memsaab at the Lux Style Awards 2019, Hajra Yamin has a few but strong performances to her name. She starred in the recently concluded social drama Baandi and is gearing up for her next, titled Naqab Zan.

In between, the actor is presently appearing in a four-episode long production Dil Hi Toh Hai as part of Angeline Malik’s series called Choti Choti Batain.

“We have tried to break one of the stereotypes prevalent in our society,” Hajra told Instep, adding that “the story follows the lives of two families where the kids have been raised by single parents.”

Hajra informed that the play observes how single parents feel when children grow up and get busy with their lives. “They (parents) realize what they are missing on; they crave companionship,” she added.

Dil Hi Toh Hai went on air last weekend and features Hajra opposite Osama Tahir; the two are playing husband and wife while Sajid Hasan essays the role of Osama’s father.

“Given that my character loses her parents at a very young age, she completely understands what her Father-in-Law is missing out on and what is it that he wants,” Hajra revealed, adding that Dil Hi Toh Hai explores what role children in both families play when their parents make a choice for themselves.

Aside from Hajra, Osama and Sajid Hasan, who represent one family, the play features Atiqa Odho, Mariyam Nafees and Sukaina Khan as the second family. Atiqa Odho is essaying the role of a single mother with two grown up daughters.
