While rumours were doing the rounds that director and producer Karan Johar is making a sequel to 2008’s blockbuster Dostana, the filmmaker recently took to social media and denied all such claims.
“Hello!!! All news circulating about Dostana 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!!!” wrote Karan Johar on his official Twitter handle.
The first instalment featured Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles, however, reports were rife that Karan Johar had roped in Dhadhak-star Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra for the sequel. Rumours also suggested that director Tarun Mansukhani had been working on the script of Dostana 2.
A source was even quoted saying that Karan Johar always wanted to make Dostana 2, especially after the first film worked so well. The same source also shared that just like the first film this one too will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani and that Karan has finalised both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, and is currently looking out for the third lead role that will again be a male lead.
Now that Karan Johar has rubbished all the rumours, we don’t think a sequel is coming anytime soon but we are surely excited for his upcoming epic period drama Takht, which features the likes of Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar.
