Model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak, who has come under attack on multiple occasions because of her unconventional looks, never shies away from speaking her mind while her work speaks for itself. After proving her mettle as a model ever since she joined the industry, Khattak, who recently got married, is now gearing up for her television debut with Teri Meri Kahani.

Speaking about her acting debut in a recent interview, the model turned actor said, “My ultimate goal was acting. I always wanted to act but I didn’t know an offer this great would come so soon in life. I think I got lucky and when I was contacted for the project; I just couldn’t say no, especially since I truly trust the team.”

The upcoming drama stars Khattak in a lead role while Azfar Rahman and Saboor Aly will also be seen alongside her.

“I’ve been offered roles before but I always wanted a lead and never wanted to do a typical bechari role,” she added. “The name of my character is Deena, she’s returned from the UK and she’s not a typical, desi girl. However, since the masses approve of conventional roles, there is that element too.”

Khattak also shared that she is a feminist so female centric projects appeal to her.

“I’d love to play roles where a woman is not dependent on a man or a male lead; the project should revolve around her strengths and her achievements only. For example Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom, now that’s the kind of movie I would love to do!”

Directed by Ali Faizan of Khan fame, Teri Meri Kahani also stars Noman Masood and Laila Wasti in key roles aside from the lead cast. The drama is set to go on air mid-Feb while the teasers and trailers will come out soon.
