The first official look of Ocean’s 8 is here and it’s slick and gorgeous as hell. Set against a red backdrop, it features all members of the killer cast such as Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling and Awkwafina. All women are wearing a jacket and all are wearing glasses and pulling it off with flair.

The film will drop in June and is a spin-off of the hugely successful Oceans franchise which comprised three films and starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt as chief protagonists.

In Oceans 8, Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney) who leads a team of thieves (played by Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, and Sarah Paulson, among others) as “they crash New York’s Met Gala to swipe a priceless necklace off a celebrity neck”.

While on the surface, it may seem like the most anticipated sequel/spin-off in the making, the fact that the film has an all-female cast could also result in the film and its actors being trolled. But Sandra Bullock and her gang of thieves are going to fight back.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly if she had heard some of the criticism of the all-female cast in the franchise remake, Bullock stated, “We got some but boy, I mean, I’ll tell you, we’ve got some feisty women that will fight right back.” She added, “It’s like, let’s just take a breath and let’s just see if we come up with something fun. There should be a moratorium. There should be a rule, you’re not allowed to say anything nasty until after it comes out. Obviously that’s never going to happen.”

In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bullock also spoke about the dynamic she shared with her co-stars on the set of the film. She told EW: “It was so great. I would say, isn’t that funny how with the guys, I don’t remember ever hearing anything about potential discord. But you so get it with women. If there’s ever more than two women in the film there’s rumblings of, “oh, they’re having cat fights.” There was nothing, because I think because of the unique situation of this and because we all are trying to achieve the same thing, we bonded pretty quickly out of necessity and just because we like each other. We all were able to fit in this trailer while we were getting fluffed and folded, and share information. I don’t know how to do this, where did you do this? Oh my God, my son needs a uniform. Oh my God, I have this great website. What do you do in this work situation? How are you internet managing? For the first time in my life I felt there was a sharing of all this information. We all looked at each other and went, why didn’t we know these things before? I realized as women we have been isolated for a while. I don’t even want to touch on that other subject, but women are now taking care of each other. We all were like, okay, let’s just take care of each other for these six months and relish this opportunity we’re being given. But we don’t want it to be just for women. This is not a man-hating. We love the men. There’s men in this movie. We love them. But this one heist needs women.”
