The pixie-cut model, Saheefa Jabbar Khattak, who garnered severe criticism on social media due to her short hair, is back in the news again. However, this time around, it is her recent wedding that is creating a buzz all over the internet. Ever since she announced her marriage, Jabbar has been encountering misogynist remarks from people advising her on how to “act like a bride”. Even though, she must be pretty occupied with her wedding events, she finally decided to speak up on the matter through a Facebook post and took out trolls in one fell swoop.

“Getting married is a very mixed feeling,” she began and went on to explain how beautiful the entire experience is.

Responding to the sexist comments that poured in from trolls, Jabbar said, “There were few things which have been bothering me since the news of I getting married broke on the social media. One question that has hit me so bad and made me feel ashamed of being a woman, once again I felt that we ‘woman’ have no self esteem or right to choose what WE want to choose. Why am I told to act like a bride? What is acting like a bride btw?”

The trolls not only questioned her decision to get married but also targeted her career moves and whether her husband would allow her to continue with modeling or not.

“We are getting married because we accept each other in every way, be it personal or professional,” Jabbar asserted. “Why do you assume that women on this planet belong only in the kitchen? Why a woman can’t be empowered alone? Why do you think a woman needs a protector who has to be a MAN? We women don’t need a man to protect us; we would always want a partner to love us.”

This isn’t the first time that Jabbar has addressed commentary that has come her way. Earlier the model took a strong stand when she was attacked by trolls for sporting a pixie-cut. More power to her.
