Political tension between India and Pakistan has had serious repercussions on the artist community on both sides of the border. First it landed Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in hot waters for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and then it created trouble for Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees that stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan opposite him.

However, these aren’t the only films that have been affected by this Indo-Pak controversy; another Bollywood film, Mom that stars Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui in pivotal roles alongside Sridevi, had to be delayed because of the rift.

DNA India reports that Mom was near completion last year but proceedings had to stop given the issue concerning Pakistani artists working in India. However, the two Pakistani actors have gotten their visas and will now be heading to India next month to complete the shooting.

“They [Pakistani artists] are expected to visit India next month and complete the rest of the shoot that includes a song as well,” the publication states. “If all goes well, the film should be ready and up for release by May this year.”

In a recent conversation with Instep, Adnan Siddiqui noted that he’ll be going to India to finish the remaining part of the film’s shooting.

Directed by Ravi Udyawar and produced by Boney Kapoor and Sridevi, Mom revolves around the story of a mother and daughter. Sridevi essays the role of the mother, Aly plays her daughter while Siddiqui will be seen essaying the role of Sridevi’s husband in the movie.

We can only hope that the deteriorating situation between the two countries takes a positive turn in the coming days ahead.
