Following in the footsteps of actors Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is all set to make her mark in Hollywood. After making her debut in South cinema, the talented star, according to reports, is auditioning to play a prominent role in The Mummy reboot.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Huma has “recently auditioned for the third installment”. The reboot will also feature Hollywood star Tom Cruise and Sophia Boutella (who will essay the role of the villain). The report further states that the “team has liked her audition and she is waiting for an official call from them”.

The Mummy reboot follows the story of Navy Seal Tyler Colt and his mission in the Iraqi desert to find a group of terrorists hiding out in a bunker. While we aren’t sure just how substantial Qureshi’s role in the film will be, it is confirmed that Boutella will be playing the role of ancient evil. Her casting is groundbreaking in the sense that this it is the first time a female antagonist has been featured in the history of the legendary Universal franchise.

As Qureshi waits on a call, she has other projects lined up for release. Among them is her Malayalam debut opposite Mammootty (White) and ace filmmaker Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy’s House.

With a number of critically acclaimed films under her belt (Gangs of Wasseypur, Ek Thi Daayan and Badlapur), Qureshi should make for terrific casting for The Mummy reboot, which is being directed by Alex Kurtzman and is slated to release in June 2017.
