Britney Spears' dad seeking legal help to finalise prenup before her wedding
Jamie Spears is working on finding a lawyer to do the prenup, said a source
Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, is seeking the help of a lawyer to help him protect her assets after engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari.
Jamie, who is currently the singer's conservator, is "already working" on getting a prenuptial agreement in place before the singer gets married.
"Britney is already working on a prenup. She understands that this is necessary," a source close to the matter told PEOPLE.
A Britney insider explained, "Jamie is working on finding a lawyer to do the prenup. Because it involves finances and he's still officially Britney's estate conservator, he is figuring out the details.
"It has to be a divorce lawyer who handles the prenup," they added.
After fans and actress Octavia Spencer urged Spears to have a prenup after engagement, Asghari came forth addressing the matter.
"Thank you to everyone who is concerned about the prenup," he wrote along with two crying-laughing emojis. "Of course, we're getting an ironclad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day."
