LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday put to rest all the speculations of judicial martial law in the country saying there's no provision of such measures in the Constitution.
The CJP was addressing a ceremony in connection with Pakistan Day at the Cathedral Church Lahore.
Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed on Wednesday had stated that the biggest issue in the upcoming days will be the formation of a caretaker government and the whole nation is looking towards the judiciary. The CJP should certainly impose a 90-day ‘judicial martial law’, he demanded.
“No caretaker PM will be accepted without consulting Imran Khan,” said Rasheed. All the political parties should be taken onboard before finalising the name of the caretaker prime minister, he said.
Speaking at the event, Justice Saqib said that we all should be thankful that we are part of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and everyone must now strive to make the country stronger.

Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah Thursday criticised AML chief for his demand of ‘Judicial Martial Law’ calling it unconstitutional. He said the person who loves martial law will call for judicial martial law.
The opposition leader said this will be unconstitutional and no one could go beyond constitution.
