MUMBAI: The newly released Bollywood film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ has unpredictably hit a home run by becoming the second most grossing movie at the Indian box office, after the highly contentious Deepika starrer, ‘Padmaavat’.
The film, released on February 23, received mixed reviews but it emerged as a commercial hit and is currently the second highest grosser of the year.
The Luv Ranjan-directed film has surpassed the collections of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ earning a total of INR 821 million in only three weeks. The film’s success has come as an astonishment to many considering the unsung cast of the film.
The film is starring Kartik Aryan and Nushrat Bharucha, who rose to fame with their 2011 romantic comedy ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama.’
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ is still ruling the box office in India after its release on January 26, with a collection of INR 286.24 crore.
