LONDON: The first official appearance of royalty-to-be Meghan Markle saw the former actress stressing over the need to empower women, not by encouraging them to ‘find’ a voice but by feeling strong enough to use it, as she feels ‘women already have a voice.’
Moreover, ‘people should be encouraged to listen’, she said.
Meghan Markle was addressing the crowd at the Royal Foundation Forum in London with Prince Harry and the Duke, Dutchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Meghan works as the women’s ambassador for the UN. She said, “I think right now in the climate we are seeing so many campaigns — I mean MeToo, and Time’s Up — and there is no better time to really continue to shine a light upon women feeling empowered and people really helping to support them — men included in that. I mean, it makes such a tremendous difference.”
She is all set to join the royal family with their work on the Royal Foundation as its fourth patron after her wedding with Prince Harry in May.
Appreciating his fiancee's concern and dedication to make a difference, Prince Harry said, “I am personally incredibly proud and excited that my soon-to-be wife, who is equally passionate about seeing positive change in the world, will soon be joining us with this work.”
