Rare Picasso painting goes up on sale
It is currently on show at Sotheby’s in New Bond Street until the auction.

LONDON: A rare painting by Picasso has gone up for grabs and is expected to fetch an estimated £50 million during an auction to be held next Wednesday.
The painting named ‘Femme au Béret et à la Robe Quadrillée’ is Picasso’s depiction of his lover Marie-Therese Walter which he made in 1937. He kept the painting with him until his death in 1973 when it was bought by the current seller.
The portrait has been exhibited publicly twice since then. It is currently on show at Sotheby’s in New Bond Street until the auction.
Three years ago, Picasso’s 1955 painting Les Femmes d’Alger also got sold for a whopping amount of £115 million at an auction in New York.
