BEIJING: Engineers in China recently completed the construction of the country’s first unbalanced bridge that swivels to an angle of 81 degrees.
A part of Changqing Road Overpass, in downtown Wuhan, revolved around to connect with other parts of the flyover located at either side of the railway earlier this week.
This is the first bridge of its kind that rotates and connects two major cities of China; Beijing and Guangzhou.
The overpass is situated in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, and runs above nine railways which run 600 trains on a daily basis.
The rotating segment of the flyover measures 135.2 metres (444 feet) long and 51 metres (167 feet) wide.
