SEATTLE: Amazon got rid of all its cashiers at one of its outlets named Amazon Go, where customers scan their smart phones, take what they want and leave.
With the increasing demand of voice shopping, supermarkets are turning to voice assistants and other technologies as the substitute for apps and mobile sites. This has brought increased demand for stores to go cashier-less, to be better suited to the rapidly-changing realm of retail.
However, as a downfall it has deprived many people who previously worked as cashiers, as some believe it might be detrimental for the economy of the country.
