ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) recently launched ‘The Story of Dying Musical Instruments’ at the Lok Virsa media centre with performances from renowned sufi, classical and folk singer Wahdat Rameez.
'Saaz Kahani: The Story of Dying Musical Instruments' comprises of six episodes that are dedicated to revival of various unique instruments from different regions of Pakistan which contribute to music in their own forms and style.
Lok Virsa executive director Dr Fouzia Saeed in her opening remarks shared how revival of endangered musical instruments is important in the preservation of cultural and traditional tune of Pakistani music.
The event is aimed at creating awareness among the new generation about the rich cultural and traditional music of Pakistan. The event was hosted by renowned TV host Tauseeq Haider and was attended by foreign diplomats, senior officials of Lok Virsa and a large number of music aficionados.
