Pope Francis marries couple aboard plane
The couple after having the 266th Catholic Pope on board the papal flight decided to ask for his blessings but Pope Francis had something else in mind.
Something unconventional yet heartwarming took place between a flight from the Chilean cities of Santiago and Iquique where Pope Francis ended up marrying a couple on board.
Two flight attendants, Paula Podest and Carlos Ciuffardi are parents to two children and are legally married, though they never had an official wedding ceremony before a representative of the church.
The universe however appeared to have something special in store for them.
The couple after having the 266th Catholic Pope on board the papal flight decided to ask for his blessings but Pope Francis had something else in mind.
It was then that the bride walked down the aisle of not a church but a plane and had the colossal privilege of getting married by the Pope himself.
The couple reported that after blessing the rings, the Pope asked for a witness which the CEO of the airline was chosen as, by the groom.
The Pope signed a handwritten wedding certificate to them and stated that “this is a sacrament that is missing in the world, the sacrament of marriage.” He also hoped that this would encourage couples around the world to marry as well.
