Islam to surpass Christianity as the largest religion in the world
WASHINGTON: According to a recent study by a reputable research center, Islam will be the largest religion in the world by the end of the century, with it rapidly spreading across Europe as well.
According to a recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center, Muslims will have increased across the world from 2010-2050 by 73% and in Europe alone, Muslims will increase by 10%. As far as the overall growth across the world is concerned, Muslims will be followed by Christians who will increase by 35% while Hindus will see an increase of 34% (from 2010-2050).
The reason behind this has been identified by the study that Muslim women give birth to more children as compared to other religious groups. On average, a Muslim woman gives birth to 3.1 children compared to 2.3 for all other religious groups combined.
These findings successfully conclude that Islam will overtake Christianity as the largest religion in the world (meaning more followers than any other religion) by the year 2070.
