KINGSTON: In a recent video message, West Indian cricketer Marlon Samuels saluted Pakistan army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and stated that he wanted to join Pakistan Army.

The PSL final held at Lahore on March 5 was a significant event for everyone. For one, it brought smiles to the faces of millions of Pakistanis who were deprived of international cricket and foreign players of repute. Marlon Samuels was one of those who played the final of the PSL 2017 edition at Gaddafi stadium and in a video message, thanked fans for the loving reception.

"Salute for the whole nation. You are champions of the heart. Thank you to the Pakistani people for the lovely reception," he said. "I also want to salute the Pakistani general (army chief) for his acknowledgment. The security arrangement at the stadium was top-class," he added.

Stating that he wanted to revive and promote international cricket back in Pakistan, Samuels voiced his desire to join Pakistan Army as well.

"General, I wouldn't mind coming back to Pakistan if I would get a metallic badge on my shoulder. Because in Jamaica I'm a general that's why I wore my army suit to Pakistan. So whenever you're willing, I'm ready to join. I'm a soldier in Jamaica, I want to join the Pakistan Army," he said.

The video message was also tweeted by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, who thanked Samuels for his warm words.
