HYDERABAD: Speaking to media personnel on Saturday, Sharjeel Khan's father claimed that he had spoken to his son and that the cricketer had denied being involved in the match-fixing scandal that has rocked the PSL.

Addressing the media, Sohail Khan, father of Sharjeel Khan, said that PCB had taken action against Sharjeel Khan based on suspicion. He claimed that Sharjeel was a famous cricketer and met lots of people on a daily basis, on account of his fame hence he could have possibly met with someone suspicious in the hotel lobby.

"The hotel in which Sharjeel was staying has 1,500 rooms," he said. "It could have been possible he met with someone in the lobby."

Sohail Khan said that many people wanted to meet his son since he was a national cricketer and it was not possible to identify who was a good person or who wasn't.

"I have spoken to Sharjeel, he has not done anything wrong," said his father categorically.

Sharjeel's farther further said that the Pakistan Cricket Board had invested a lot in his son. He said that his son did not have a bad character.

"I have taught Sharjeel cricket with my own two hands," he said. "People love to watch him play cricket."

Sohail hoped that once the investigation was completed, Sharjeel would prove himself innocent.
