In pictures: Russian ambassador shot dead in Ankara

ANKARA: Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, 62, was shot dead by a gunman identified as Mevlüt Mert Altintas, 22, a member of the Ankara special forces police department, on Monday at a gallery. 

As the Russian ambassador was about to make his speech, the gunman opened fire on him, shooting the envoy multiple times.
