'The Last of Us' adds two video game stars for S3

As The Last of Us season three is in the works, the series' cast is expanding, with three new faces attached.

Interestingly, most of them have a connection to The Last of Us, but with the video games.

John Goodman will play Joey, while Ian Alexander will play Paco. They self-described themselves as 'Heroes of the Highway'.

Laura Bailey will play Elizabeth, a leader within the Seraphites, the religious group.

But in the video games, they performed with different characters.

For example, Alexander performed Lev in The Last of Us Part II, while Bailey voiced Abby.

The show joined new cast members, including Clea Duvall, Patrick Wilson, Jason Ritter, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Michelle Mao and Kyriana Kratter.

Returning cast members include Kaitlyn Dever, Bella Ramsey, Isabella Merced, Gabriel Luna and Jeffrey Wright. Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle and Spencer Lord.

Meanwhile, it is thought The Last of Us will have four seasons.

However, when HBO's executive Casey Bloys asked, "And you still won’t confirm it’s the final season?"

He said, "I think [showrunner] Craig [Mazin] has planned it as the final season."

The logline of The Last of Us "takes place in a world hit by a widespread infection that has turned most of the population into zombie-like creatures."
