Jelly Roll delivers savage blow to politicians after restoring voting rights

Jelly Roll has delivered a savage blow to politicians after he avoided sharing his take on politics at the Grammy Awards in February of this year.

Wrapping up his guest-hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday, August 28, 2026, Roll opened up about the moment when he “fumbled” his words when a reporter asked him to share his political view at the awards show.

Referring to that incident, the 41-year-old American rapper and singer said he has spent his life watching “people decide who I am, what I am, what I believe, what I support and what I don’t support.”

He added, “Looking back, I don’t necessarily regret asking for more time before I spoke. I wish more people took more time before they spoke.”

“But I do wish I had found the words to express my heart just a little bit sooner. But I was afraid that anything I was going to say was going to be immediately taken as a political statement. And ironically, by trying so hard not to make a political statement, I became one,” Roll stated.

The Need a Favour hitmaker went on to quip that he tried his best “not to belong to a political party” throughout his career “because until March of this year, I wasn’t even allowed to vote. But now that I have that right, it’s one I plan to exercise this coming November.”

It is pertinent to mention that Jelly Roll’s voting rights were restored in December of 2025 after Bill Lee, the governor of Tennessee, pardoned the several felonies he committed in his life.
