Why Robin Williams' kids are taking action against his AI-generated content online? Report

Robbin Williams' children's fight against the "rampant AI abuse" of their father's image and voice came from a place of protecting the late actor's image in the eyes of the new generation.

A decade after the Good Will Hunting actor's death, his kids, Zak Williams, 43, Zelda Williams, 37, and Cody Williams, 34, have taken over control of his digital legacy as announced earlier by Zelda.

A source told Radar Online that Robin's kids took urgent action after fake AI videos of the actor were circulating all over online spaces, damaging Robin's legacy.

The tattler said, “Robin's family is seeing material spread online that can make Robin appear to say or do things he never did. Their concern is that, as these tools become more convincing, younger audiences may struggle to distinguish authentic Robin from an artificial imitation."

They continued, "This isn't about preventing people from celebrating Robin. Zak, Zelda and Cody understand how deeply people still love him. They want fans to have somewhere they can visit knowing that what they're watching genuinely represents their father and his work.

"As Zelda has said his loved ones see what is happening as rampant online abuse of their father's legacy and memory, and they know it would have him rolling in his grave."

This came after Zelda publicly announced their fight against Robbin's fake AI content and explained the motive behind it in her Instagram account, writing, “Believe me, I know it’s a little strange. Making that space into one where people can find authentic clips and photos of him is one of the best ways we’ve now found to fight back against rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness on here.”

Zelda also acknowledged that seeing Williams' account active again may be "triggering" for some fans.

For those unversed, Robbin William passed away in August 2014 after the actor attempted to take his own life. He was 63.
