Anne Hathaway hints at dog Starbuck's fate in 'The End of Oak Street'
Anne Hathaway reveals what will happen to dog Starbuck in 'The End of Oak Street' after viral chatter
Anne Hathaway has finally lifted the lid on what the future holds for the dog in the sci-fi apocalypse thriller The End of Oak Street.
For those unaware, the Academy Award-winning actress played the role of Denise in the recently released science fiction survival film written, co-produced, and directed by David Robert Mitchell. The film follows “the Platt family bands together to navigate their new surroundings after a cosmic event transports their suburban neighborhood to someplace unknown,” according to IMDb.
Complex interviewed Hathaway, where she articulated her thoughts on the online concerns for the dog named Starbuck in the film, who belongs to the Platt family.
The trailer of the film ignited fear about the fate of Starbuck (real-life dogs Buzz and Brisket share the role) after the entire neighborhood (or more) is threatened with extinction by dinosaur.”
Hinting at what will happen with Statbuck, Hathaway said, “Somebody was, like, can you just let the audiences know that, like, it’s all gonna be OK?’ We break rules in this movie [but] that might not be one of them. Don’t worry.”
The Odyssey star went on to confess that people’s concern surprised her as she could not comprehend how they started thinking about Starbuck that way.
She quipped, “I’m like, ‘Which movies are out there killing dogs that everybody’s scared that we’re just casually doing it in movies now?’”
“I feel like movies that kill dogs should automatically be rated R. It doesn’t matter if anybody curses, doesn’t matter if there’s violence – if a dog dies, R-rated,” Anne Hathaway stated.
It is pertinent to mention that before hitting theatres and IMAX in North America on August 14, 2026, The End of Oak Street premiered on August 9, 2026. Watch the trailer here.
