Mark Ruffalo's son Keen calls 'COVID depression' blessing?

Keen Ruffalo recently revealed that stepping into the acting world was never his dream; rather, it was a choice he made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 25-year-old son of Mark Ruffalo and his wife, Sunrise Coigney, appeared on the Friday, August 7 episode of Today, where he confessed that becoming an actor was nowhere in his bingo card but the boredom he felt during the pandemic turned out to be a driving force for him and he eventually landed himself in Hollywood.

Articulating his thoughts, Keen said, “It was around COVID, and it got to that point where everyone’s really burning out from being inside.”

The Nimrods star added, “I was starting my freshman year of college just before COVID happened and I was going for fashion design originally, and I dropped out not long after.”

“We ended up kind of separating for COVID, and yeah, I got the COVID depression, as many people did. And I needed a change, and I was lost at the time, and so I saw that acting made my dad so happy and I was like, ‘Listen, I need to try something new,’” he explained.

It is pertinent to mention that Keen is playing the role of Connor in the recently released Prime Video television series Sterling Point. The series dropped all eight episodes at once on August 5, 2026.
