Piers Morgan turns against FIFA President Gianni Infantino
Piers Morgan lashes out at FIFA President Gianni Infantino on social media
Piers Morgan, who initially had a positive view of Gianni Infantino, has turned against the FIFA President, demanding his removal.
Sharing a picture with Infantino, Morgan wrote on social media, "I thought FIFA boss Gianni Infantino was a force for good in football."
The journalist added, “I was wrong. The shameful Balogun fiasco was bad enough, but his greedy, tawdry attempt to flog off the World Cup is beyond the pale. He must go."
The Balogun fiasco refers to a major controversy during the 2026 FIFA World Cup involving US men's national team striker Folarin Balogun.
In a Round of 32 match—USA vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina on July 1, 2026— Balogun scored but later received a red card for serious foul play
After the match, President Donald Trump personally called FIFA President Gianni Infantino and asked him to review the red card and suspension.
