Trump’s Truth Social data strategy struggles as profits decline
The platform faces challenges turning user engagement and data resources into sustainable revenue amid growing market pressure
Truth Social, the social media platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), is facing growing scrutiny from investors as questions increase over its ability to turn online influence into sustainable business growth.
Recently, Trump Media & Technology Group on July 16 announced that it will begin selling speedier access to the Truth Social posts of President Donald Trump and other market influencers on its platform.
The product branded as Truth API was pitched to Wall Street hedge funds and quantitative traders at up to $100,000 per month for direct, millisecond-level access to market-moving posts from top platform accounts.
By delivering posts instantly to automated algorithms before they hit the general public, Trump Media aimed to turn real-time political discourse into a high-margin, recurring revenue stream.
Financial markets have grown increasingly accustomed to high-frequency political posts, dulling the instant price volatility that automated trading algorithms used to exploit.
The feed's heavy reliance on a small cluster of accounts, primarily former President Donald Trump and key political allies-limits its broader utility compared to comprehensive sentiment feeds from larger networks.
With core advertising revenues stagnant and operational net losses mounting, analysts note that initial subscriber uptake on the $100,000 feed has fallen short of offsetting broader business headwinds.
While company leadership framed the licensed API as a breakthrough bridge between social media and Wall Street analytics, market saturation and shrinking execution margins are raising sharp questions about the long-term viability of the strategy.
