As Marvel's arguably most-anticipated trailer, Avengers: Doomsday, is dropped, so is the interview with the comic book's head, Kevin Feige.

In which, among many other topics, he weighed in on doomed Blade starring Mahershala Ali.

And Feige was gloomy over the project.

Without gloss, he admitted he felt like a "gigantic loser and failure" after the reboot did not even begin to shoot.

"I am feeling like a gigantic loser and failure that we didn’t get off the ground with Mahershala," he told Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Originally announced in 2019, Blade instantly snowballed into one of Marvel's biggest nightmares.

As two directors - Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange - quit the production and at least five writers reworked the script, the film went topsy-turvy.

Ali, who is attached as the lead in the vampire movie, was still committed to the project even till last year.

“I’m ready. Let them know I’m ready," he told Variety at the time.

Yet, Blade continued to lurch creatively, and at one stage, according to the outlet, a female-led story had been mulled for the reboot.

Years of chaos, however, led Marvel to remove Blade from its release schedule in late 2024.
