AWS executive Dave Brown to leave Amazon after 19 years
The veteran AWS executive and CEO advisor is departing Amazon after nearly two decades, having played a key role in shaping the company’s cloud strategy
Amazon veteran Dave Brown, a senior vice president in Amazon Web Services is leaving the company after 19 years.
Brown was a highly visible Senior Vice President leading AWS's core Compute and Machine Learning Services.
He has been a key figure in AWS leadership, helping shape the company’s cloud computing strategy and working closely with senior executives.
Brown was also a member of Amazon CEO Andy Jassy's elite "S-team" advisory group.
According to an internal memo by AWS CEO Matt Garman, Brown is departing at the end of July 2026 to take on a new, undisclosed role outside of the company.
"AWS business and team has never been in a stronger position, and I have never been more optimistic about the incredible opportunity we have ahead of us," said Garman in the memo.
The memo said Brown will serve a one month notice period before leaving from his position.
His departure arrives at a time when AWS continues to focus on areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise technology.
As informed, Brown will be replaced by Dave Treadwell, the senior vice president of ecommerce foundation, according to the memo, starting on August 1.
Like Brown, Treadwell is also a member of S-team, or senior leadership team, which directly advises Jassy as working within the group is regarded as a "badge of honor" at the company.
The move is part of the ongoing leadership changes that large technology companies often undergo as they adjust strategies, reorganize teams, and prepare for future growth.
However, Amazon did not disclose details about his next role.
