One 'Death of Robin Hood' scene Hugh Jackman admits was 'hardest' ever

In The Death of Robin Hood, Hugh Jackman was pushed to his limits.

The extreme makeover, gruelling shooting scenes, and the weight of justifying the mythic folk hero appeal.

But there is a scene Jackman – who has an experience of over three decades in filming – said is nothing in comparison to what he ever did in his career.

This was a hand-to-hand mud-soaked fight scene opposite his co-star Elijah Ungvary.

"If you'd seen another film, we could have looked like lovers," he told People.

"And Michael said, 'I love it.' There is a weird intimacy to hand-to-hand combat and the brutality of it."

Though the scene is a heavy-handed combat one, Jackman recalled there is an emotional layer to it.

It is when Robin Hood, after delivering a blow to his opponent, rests his head on his chest.

On top of this, the shooting in freezing conditions and mountains of mud made the scene even harder to film.

"I am still getting mud out of places, a year later," he said, adding, "That was the hardest thing I've ever done."

The Death of Robin Hood is in cinemas.
