Why King Charles is letting the rift between his sons stand?

King Charles III could help mend the strained relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William, but the reigning monarch is staying out of it.

Royal reporter Emily Nash says the British monarch appears to be focusing on his relationship with Prince Harry rather than trying to mediate between his sons.

“I think he probably is just focused on his own moment of spending time with the son he’s not seen for a long time,” Emily said of Charles. 

“Especially potentially meeting his grandchildren… I’m sure that’s probably his primary focus right now," she added.

It is worth mentioning here that Prince Harry is set to visit King Charles III in the UK next month.

While the monarch seeks reconciliation with Prince Harry, experts say Prince William views the Duke of Sussex's betrayal as "unforgivable."

“Sort of the opposite of King Charles’ approach,” royal commentator Amanda Matta told Page Six on Monday. “William has been the holdout for years, viewing Harry’s betrayal as unforgivable.”

"I think it is almost impossible to draw any conclusions about a reconciliation between Harry and William at this stage," she added.

“William is also seeking to project strength and leadership these days, which often results in press briefings that he has opposed the king’s handling of emotionally charged issues like Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and now, Harry’s potential return,” explained the Off With Their Headlines podcast co-host.
