Rockstar Games confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026, as pre-orders go live June 25 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The confirmation signals no further delays for gaming's most anticipated release. Yet this November won't belong to GTA alone as Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee is arriving November 3, refusing to cede the month despite industry consensus that launching against Rockstar equals commercial suicide.

Other developers have fled November entirely. Major studios are pushing releases into September specifically to avoid competing with GTA VI. The gaming industry has effectively cleared the board except for two unlikely rebels: the Godzilla remaster and a retro Barbie game collection, both arriving in November.

What is surprising is not that there is a remaster for this video game title but that it has such broad platform coverage. What started as a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC release now boasts an additional PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch.

The expansion contradicts Sony's industry-wide initiative of moving away from last-gen platforms, as it clearly shows that big brands still warrant investment in them.

The Sony PlayStation 4 launch date has not been officially delayed yet, which only proves the obvious: the company's marketing efforts for the new generation of hardware are at odds with real-world conditions.

There are millions of people that still uses last-gen consoles, and upgrading to next-gen hardware is too costly for some players. For example, GTA VI necessitates new-generation consoles.
