Crystal Lawson is facing felony charges after authorities say she tipped off a drug trafficking ring using confidential case information
A former Florida juvenile probation officer in Florida is facing a staggering total of more than 100 felony charges after allegedly leaking confidential information to a drug ring.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, she was arrested for using database access from her former job to discreetly warn members of a drug trafficking organization about their cases.
The OCSO maintained that Crystal would use the Comprehensive Case Information System to track ongoing investigation, leveraging that data to warn members of a drug trafficking organization who had active arrest warrants against them.
In this connection, Sheriff wrote on X, “Lawson was able to find multiple active, un-served arrest warrants, searched for and identified co-defendants in the criminal case, and leaked active arrest warrants to members and associates of the DTO.”
Law enforcement reportedly says that Lawson illegally accessed the database 106 times between January and May of this year.
At present, she is facing 113 felony counts of computer crimes. It is pertinent to mention that she faces up to five years of prison-Lawson faces a maximum sentence of 565 years behind bars.
