Buckingham Palace marked Duchess of Gloucester's birthday with release of new photos
The British royal family is celebrating The Duchess of Gloucester's milestone birthday who turned 80 on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
The Duchess of Gloucester, Birgitte, is the wife of Prince Richard who is the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duchess was born in Denmark, on June 20, 1946 and lives in Kensington Palace with her husband.
The royal family marked her birthday with two Instagram posts containing her photos and a look at her life and work. Buckingham Palace thanked "all the well wishers on Her Royal Highness’s special day."
Among thousands of people who liked the royal family's Instagram posts was also the official account of the Prince and Princess of Wales. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton did not share a separate post to wish the senior royal.
