Trump hints at positive negotiations with 'Anthropic' CEO at G7 summit
Trump had a productive meeting with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei at the G7 summit to resolve the global shutdown of Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models
President Trump confirmed at the G7 summit today that negotiations with Anthropic are positive.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that negotiations with artificial intelligence startup company Anthropic are "going fine."
This statement followed a meeting between world leaders and technology executives, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and represents the latest update in the ongoing dispute regarding the administration’s emergency shutdown of the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models.
Trump made the comment to reporters at the G7 summit after a meeting between leaders and tech bosses including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
On June 12, the administration issued an export control directive citing national security concerns, specifically claims that the models could be "jailbroken" to bypass cybersecurity safeguards.
This forced Anthropic to pull the models offline globally to ensure compliance, as a selective block for foreign nationals was deemed impractical.
Anthropic is in a dispute with the Trump administration over foreign access to its most advanced AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
The company on Friday disabled access for all users to those models after Trump ordered Anthropic to block foreign nationals from accessing them.
It comes as Trump administration informed, it has "national security concerns" with Anthropic's most advanced models.
Notably, the meeting with G7 leaders and tech bosses was the first time that Trump has met with Amodei in public since the order.
