Trump denies $300bn Iran reconstruction fund backed by Gulf allies: ‘It’s false’

US President Donald Trump has denied reports that the upcoming peace deal with Iran includes a $300 billion reconstruction fund.

Since the confirmation of memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tehran, the reports of establishing the reconstruction fund for Iran as a part of financial incentives backed by Gulf allies and private entities.

Speaking to the reporters during a bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fatteh Al-Sisi, the US President called these reports completely “false.”

“You can invest if you want. What am I going to do… say nobody is allowed to invest.”

“We’re not putting up 10 cents,” he adds.

Trump emphasized that the United States is not contributing to a reconstruction fund and it does not have one. When asked about potential financial support from Gulf nations, he suggested that such investments remain unlikely until those countries observe changes in Iran's behavior.

“If they do it, fine. I would say they won’t be doing it for a while, until they find out the behaviour of Iran,” he said.

A lot of uncertainty is prevailing around the $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran. Even the contradictions exist within the Trump administration. Earlier in the week, the Vice President JD Vance laid out details regarding the fund and clarified that Iran could eventually gain access to a $300 billion reconstruction package under a deal with President Trump.

Explaining the source of money, Gulf regional allies would provide funding if they show a strong interest in averting future conflicts and instability in the Middle East.

The fund is to be created by private companies and a coalition of international partners, specifically in the Gulf region.
