Canadians could receive benefit payments within days as CRA issues schedule
Canadians aged 65 to 74 may receive up to $743.05 per month if their annual income is below $148,451
Eligible Canadians could soon see extra money arrive in their bank accounts as the federal government prepares to issue several benefit payments, including Old Age Security (OAS) and the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB).
According to the federal government, the next OAS payment is scheduled for June 26, 2026.
The monthly benefit is available to eligible Canadians aged 65 and older who meet residency requirements.
Canadians aged 65 to 74 may receive up to $743.05 per month if their annual income is below $148,451.
Those aged 75 and over may qualify for up to $817.36 monthly if their income is below $154,196.
Payments may be reduced for higher-income recipients through the OAS recovery tax, commonly known as a clawback.
The first payment under the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit is set to be issued on July 3.
The programme replaces the former GST/HST credit and offers payments that are 25 per cent higher than the previous benefit.
Eligibility depends on income, family size and tax-filing status. Single Canadians could receive up to $679 annually, while married or common-law couples may qualify for up to $890.
Families can also receive an additional $234 for each eligible child under 19.
The Canada Revenue Agency will send payments through direct deposit or by mail to eligible recipients who meet the programme requirements.
