Iranian FM reveals ‘most important issue’ ahead of US-Iran deal signing ceremony

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi on Tuesday revealed the “most important issue” in the peace deal with the United States, due to be signed on Friday.

Aragchi’s comments came during a briefing with foreign diplomats in which he asserted that ending the war on all fronts including Lebanon was the “most important issue.”

"The important point I want to emphasise here is that in our view, there are two parties to this memorandum -- one side is America and Israel, and the other side is Iran and Hezbollah," said Araghchi.

"This is perhaps the most important issue in the memorandum -- the declaration of an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon," he said, adding that "ending the war in Lebanon is an inseparable part of the complete end of the war".

The Foreign Minister’s remarks a day after Tehran and Washington announced a MoU to end the months-long conflict between Iran and US-Israel.

At the G7 Summit, Donald Trump also expressed his views on the Lebanon war, stating, “Israel has been fighting Hezbollah for too long and too many people are being killed…..It has to be more responsible with respect to Lebanon.”

Recently, Iran’s deputy FM also revealed the name of an official who will represent Tehran at the US peace deal signing event in Geneva.

According to deputy FM as reported by Tasnim news agency, Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad ​Baqer Qalibaf will be ‌present for the signing of an ​interim agreement to ​end the war with ⁠the US. As per Trump’s confirmation, JD Vance, the Vice President, will attend from Washington.

According to Majid Takht-Ravanchi, "Switzerland will be the venue for the signing, but the exact location has not yet been determined. The next round of negotiations will begin immediately after the signing.”
