The leaders of three of the world's most powerful AI companies are heading to the same room next week, a rare sight given how fiercely they typically compete.

According to an announcement made by the French presidential office, OpenAI's Sam Altman, Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis, and Anthropic's Dario Amodei are all expected to participate in the upcoming G7 summit in France.

The leaders of the G7 nations seem increasingly keen to understand the potential benefits and dangers of fast-evolving AI technology.

An OpenAI representative told the press that the firm intended to talk about the subject in general terms but refused to divulge more information. The representatives of Anthropic and Google responded in similar fashion.

The conference has attracted leaders who are normally in fierce competition with each other regarding attracting the best talents, customers, and investors. It is worth mentioning that there has already been open competition between OpenAI and Anthropic, as this year Amodei and Altman did not shake hands during the Indian government's event.

This could be regarded as a sign that, despite the differences between OpenAI and Anthropic, in terms of AI regulation, even competitors find it wise to stand united before governments.

The significance of participating in the summit for both companies should also be understood in relation to the fact that OpenAI and Anthropic are experiencing mounting pressures to show the world how solid their business models are, especially since they have planned to go IPO soon.
