Chatting with the outlet at the 79th annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 7, the 36-year-old English actor said, “I went to see his show the other day and he's incredible in it.”

“And I hope I get to cheer him when he wins tonight,” he quipped, and Lithgow won his third Tony Award in the category of best actor in a leading role for his portrayal of Roald Dahl in Giant, beating Radcliffe in the same category.

“I got to go backstage, and he was so lovely. We didn't really talk about details particularly. But he was telling me about how well it's going and how fond he is of the kids,” the Jungle star said of the veteran actor.

For those unaware, Daniel Radcliffe portrayed the titular character Harry Potter in all eight movies along with Emma Stone, who played Hermione Granger.

Notably, John Lithgow is playing the role of Albus Dumbledore in the forthcoming television adaptation of Harry Potter

It is pertinent to mention that Dumbledore's role was first portrayed by Richard Harris in two Harry Potter films before Michael Gambon was cast to fill Richard’s void following his passing in October 2002.
