Jill Biden speaks out against White House doctor's negligence amid Joe's 'shocking' cancer journey
Former President Joe Biden has been battling stage four metastatic prostate cancer since last year
Former first lady Jill Biden shared her disbelief over the White House doctors’ negligence regarding former President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis.
In May 2025, Joe was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer, which is highly aggressive, with a Gleason score of 9 and has spread to his bones. He has been receiving treatment since his diagnosis. This tragic news came in less than six months after he left the White House.
Jill appeared on the Friday, May 29 episode of CBS News Sunday Morning, where she talked about the delay in the diagnosis.
Calling to mind, she shared, “I can remember getting the diagnosis, and it was just, it was shocking.”
The 74-year-old educator went on to reveal that she was informed by her husband’s doctors that men above the age of 70 years do not need routine blood tests to keep prostate cancer in check, as it spreads slowly.
“I do feel we had amazing care in the White House, but somehow that was missed,” Jill stated.
It is pertinent to mention that a cancerous lesion was removed from Joe Biden’s chest in 2023, and in September 2025, he had Mohs surgery, which is used to remove basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma.
